Programs
provided by the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy Inc. are an unique combination of classroom instruction, home
study assignments, correspondence and work experience. This allows students
to continue working or raising a family while achieving a higher level of
education and obtaining a new profession.
Unlike most schools, the
Northern Institute of Massage Therapy Inc. does not utilize classroom
instruction for the majority of its program content.
Although attendance IS
mandatory for the classroom instruction component of the programs, the
majority of instructional time is spent on independent learning of assigned
home study topics, correspondence and work experience.
Our programs provide for
the development of both the academic and non-academic skill sets required
for success in the field of Massage Therapy.
The majority of our
students have secured massage employment PRIOR to completion of the Basic
program.
If they choose to
continue on to the second year ADVANCED program they are in the unique
position OF ATTENDING SCHOOL WHILE WORKING IN THE PROFESSION. This puts our
students at a distinct advantage because they can bring their questions and
comments back to class for discussion and direction. Also, because our
graduates DO NOT need any additional post graduate training they are in
high demand in the profession and requests for our graduates currently
exceeds supply.
All classroom
instruction takes place at the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy Inc.
campus in Red Deer, Alberta. Classes are conducted
approximately one weekend per month, on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m.
to 5:30 p.m.
Classes begin in both September
and January for the Basic Relaxation Massage program, and in September only
for the Advanced Therapeutic Massage program.
At Northern Institute of Massage Therapy Inc., we
want all of our students to excel in their studies, but recognize that some
students need extra help to achieve this. For this reason, we now offer a
BACK TO SCHOOL STUDY SKILLS REVIEW workshop. This is a 1 day workshop that
has been designed to help students:
- get organized
- prioritize study material
- use learning aids properly
- maximize memory
- make studying work for them
- successfully complete all program
requirements.
This workshop is not compulsory but is highly
recommended. Check under "Workshops" for upcoming session dates
and registration information.
