The
massage industry is rapidly expanding and the demand for properly trained
massage therapists currently far exceeds the available supply, especially
those with 2200 hours or more of training in massage therapy.
Our programs are
designed for those seeking a new professional career in the Health Care
field as a Massage Therapist.
Our programs are
comprehensive and are not intended as self-interest courses but as programs
of instruction toward a professional career in the Massage industry.
Many prospective
students incorrectly assume that Massage training has low academic
requirements. Students must understand that they are training to become
professionals in the health care system, and as such a significant
investment in time and effort is required.
Applicants must be
mature, self-directed, independent learners willing to study and to be
committed to spending the time necessary to obtain the required skills.
Based on input from
former students, applicants can expect to spend an average of 30 hours per
week on assignments and how study.
Additional skills that
applicants should possess to succeed in the field of Massage Therapy
include the following:
- ability to work
independently with little or no supervision
- physical capacity to stand
for long periods of time while performing treatments
- good communication and
listening skills
- a friendly outgoing
personality and a caring attitude
- the ability to focus
exclusively on the client
EMPLOYMENT opportunities
range from self employment in the home, office or clinic to employment in
gyms, health clubs, spas, resorts, clinics shared with other health care
professionals, and massage clinics or centers.
It is important that
prospective students understand the following:
Taking any of our
programs does not guarantee employment. You should ask potential employers
whether this course provides worthwhile training. The value of this course
is determined by employers and the massage associations, not the
government. No Provincial guidelines currently exist for massage therapists
in Alberta.
OUT OF PROVINCE
Prospective students
from out of province or those seeking to relocate outside of Alberta should check
with the governing body of their province to clarify the requirements
regarding education and transferability of instruction for Massage Therapy.

the specific category.
