Distance Learning
Programs provided by the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy Inc. are a unique combination of classroom instruction, home study assignments, correspondence and work experience. This allows students to continue working or raising a family while achieving a higher level of education and obtaining a new profession.
Although attendance is mandatory for classroom instruction, the majority of time is spent on assignments, home study, massage practice and work experience.
The majority of our students have secured massage employment prior to completion of the Basic program. When they continue on to the second year Advanced Therapeutic Massage Program, they are in the unique position of attending school while working in the profession. This puts our students at a distinct advantage because they can bring their questions and comments back to class for discussion and direction. Also, because our graduates do not need any additional post graduate training they are in high demand in the profession and requests for our graduates currently exceed supply.
All classroom instruction takes place at the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy Inc. campus in Red Deer, Alberta. Classes are conducted approximately 2 consecutive days approximately 4 weeks apart from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Classes begin in both September and January for the Basic Relaxation Massage program, and in September only for the Advanced Therapeutic Massage programs.
Students that have completed their first year at other schools are welcome to apply to the Advanced Therapeutic Massage Program.
